Steel — placeholder image

Steel is the canonical mid-tier ferrous metal and one of the most heavily consumed resources in Star Wars Galaxies. Every weaponsmith and armorsmith builds a steel buying pipeline early — the metal shows up in dozens of schematics from blaster receivers to composite armor inserts to architect-level structural beams.

Stat profile

Steel inherits the Ferrous Metal profile: Overall Quality, Conductivity, Decay Resistance, Heat Resistance, Shock Resistance, Malleability, and Unit Toughness. The exact spawn ranges are narrower than Iron’s, biased toward higher minimums on the structural stats — meaning a random Steel spawn is usually a better drop-in than a random Iron spawn for the same slot.

Sub-classes worth chasing

The Steel tree branches into named sub-classes (Aluminum Steel, Kelsh Steel, Kiirium Steel, Bicorbantium, Duralloy, Rhodium, and others) that each push specific stats toward 1,000. The right sub-class for a given schematic depends on which stat the recipe weights — a weaponsmith chasing damage tends to want high Malleability and Unit Toughness, while an armorsmith chasing durability prioritizes Shock Resistance and Heat Resistance.

Where to find it

Steel sub-classes rotate through almost every planet — Corellia, Naboo, Tatooine, Lok, Dantooine, Dathomir, Talus, Rori, and Yavin IV all see regular spawns. Higher-quality Steels skew toward the harder worlds (Lok, Dathomir, Endor) where the survey competition is thinner.

Typical uses

  • Mid-tier weaponsmith barrels and slug-throwing weapon frames
  • Composite armor inserts and segment plating
  • Structural components for architect housing schematics
  • Droid engineer chassis subassemblies
