Armorsmith

Armorsmith is the Elite Artisan profession that produces nearly every player-craftable armor set in Star Wars Galaxies. From the entry-level padded sets that get a new combatant through their first hunts up through the iconic Composite, Mandalorian, Ubese, and RIS suits worn in end-game PvE and PvP, an Armorsmith’s bench is where the wearable defense in the galaxy is made.

Role

The profession lives on two skill modifiers — Armor Assembly and Armor Experimentation — paired with high-quality resources sourced through Surveyor and Bio-Engineer suppliers. Armorsmiths typically work to spec, customizing the encumbrance and damage-mitigation profile of a suit to fit a combat player’s intended use case: lower-encumbrance sets for ranged classes that need to keep stamina high, heavier sets for tanks who want maximum kinetic and energy mitigation.

The tree splits into four branches:

• Field Armor — Padded armor, basic protective gear, and the entry-level encumbrance-light options
• Battle Armor — Composite armor and the heavier mid-tier kits
• Reinforcement — Armor segment work and the experimentation gates that turn good resources into great suits
• Techniques — Component crafting, layered shielding, advanced segment work, and the unlocks for end-game schematics like Mandalorian and RIS

Mastery requires roughly 63 skill points beyond Weaponsmith and Artisan prerequisites, plus substantial Armor Crafting XP earned from making practice runs through the lower-tier schematics.

Armorsmith trainers cluster in major starport cities — Coronet on Corellia, Theed on Naboo, Mos Eisley and Bestine on Tatooine, with additional outposts in Tyrena, Dearic, and Nashal for crafters training in those regions.
