Profession
Weaponsmith
CraftingWeaponsmith is the Elite Artisan profession behind every player-made weapon in Star Wars Galaxies. Aside from looted NPC drops and the basic Artisan-crafted starter weapons, virtually every blaster, vibroblade, rifle, grenade, and heavy weapon a player wields comes from a Weaponsmith’s crafting station.
Role
The profession lives and dies by two skill mods: Weapon Assembly and Weapon Experimentation. Combined with high-quality resources, these determine whether a finished weapon ends up baseline or top-of-the-line. Weaponsmiths often work closely with combat players to spec weapons for specific damage types, ranges, and SAC costs — which makes the relationship as much consulting as production.
Skill tree highlights
The tree splits into four branches:
- Melee Weapons I-IV — vibroblades, swords, axes, polearms, vibro knucklers, gaderiffi batons
- Firearms I-IV — pistols (DH17, DL44, DX2, FWG5), carbines (DXR6, EE3, E11, Elite), rifles (T21, Tusken, DLT20a, Beam), heavy weapons (flame thrower, rocket launcher, lightning cannon)
- Munitions I-IV — fragmentation, cryoban, glop, proton, and thermal grenades; mines; the Imperial Detonator
- Techniques I-IV — weapon components, scopes, stocks, power-handlers, barrels, and the Weapon Upgrade Kit
Mastery requires 92 skill points (29 from Artisan prereqs), about 896,000 weapon crafting XP, and 31,050 general crafting XP.
