1. SWGDB is a community fan project

SWGDB is a non-commercial-spirited, community fan database for players of Star Wars Galaxies emulators (primarily SWG Restoration). We exist to make game knowledge searchable for the small remaining playerbase. Star Wars and all related characters, vehicles, locations, and assets are © Lucasfilm Ltd. and The Walt Disney Company. SWGDB does not claim ownership of any Star Wars intellectual property.

2. Fair-use rationale

SWGDB operates in the long-established tradition of fan databases for MMOs (Wowhead, Icy-Veins, Console Database, GarlandTools, FFXIV Teamcraft). Our use of Star Wars references and imagery is transformative, non-commercial in character, and serves an educational / informational purpose for the remaining player community. We do not host downloadable game assets, do not distribute the game client, and do not facilitate private-server hosting — we are strictly a knowledge index.

3. Image attribution policy

Every image on SWGDB carries explicit attribution. Sources include:

• Wookieepedia (starwars.fandom.com) and SWG Wiki (swg.fandom.com) — community-uploaded content licensed CC-BY-SA-3.0 (and the more recent CC-BY-SA-NC variants for some uploads). We credit the source article on every image we use.
• Unsplash — free photography under the Unsplash License, attributed to the photographer regardless.
• NASA — public-domain space imagery (US government works are not subject to copyright).
• SWGDB-original art — placeholders, icons, and SVG graphics authored by SWGDB and licensed under our own terms.
• Community contributions — screenshots and content attributed to specific contributors by name.

4. Takedown / rights-holder contact

If you are a rights holder and believe a specific image or piece of content on SWGDB should be removed or re-attributed, please contact us at legal@swgdb.com with:

• The specific URL of the page where the content appears
• Identification of the content you believe is infringing
• Your contact information and signature
• A statement of good-faith belief that use is not authorized

We will respond within a reasonable timeframe (target: 7 business days). We treat takedown requests seriously and prefer attribution improvements over removal where appropriate.

5. Reuse of SWGDB content

Original SWGDB-authored content (article text, schemas, calculators, placeholder art) may be reused under CC-BY-SA-4.0 with credit. Third-party content remains under its respective license (Wookieepedia content under CC-BY-SA; Unsplash content under the Unsplash License; NASA content public domain). When in doubt, follow the attribution shown on each image's caption.
