IG-88
The IG-88 heroic was introduced in Chapter 7 alongside Axkva Min, the Tusken King, and the launch of Aurilia. The instance is set inside Nym’s Factory Compound on Lok — the same Feeorin pirate stronghold that anchors Nym’s Theme Park — where the assassin droid IG-88, canonized in The Empire Strikes Back’s lineup of bounty hunters, has overrun the production line.
The fight
The fight is staged inside Nym’s Factory Compound on Lok. Required combat level is 90, faction is irrelevant, and Restoration’s recommended group size is eight. Lockout is one hour. Run length is short — typically 20–35 minutes — but the encounter has the highest wipe rate of the Chapter 7 heroics: structurally simple, mechanically lethal. Fandom describes it as “the unforgiving heroic.”
How to start
The pre-quest is Nym’s Slicer, which threads through the Nym Theme Park content and unlocks the Retina Scanner at the factory entrance. The entrance and scanner are guarded by elite level-90 protector droids; the group may either kill them for XP or simply run past, dropping aggro at the entrance.
Group composition
IG-88 rewards mobile tanks and energy-protected DPS:
- 2 tanks: required, because IG-88 kills a locked-on tank in under three seconds. Two Jedi tanks trade taunts back and forth; a Pikeman can substitute but must rotate fast.
- 2 healers: Medic and Combat Medic center between the spawn doors during Phase 1. Splitting them across doors loses heal coverage when rockets land.
- 3–4 DPS: ranged classes only — Rifleman, Pistoleer, and Carbineer — because melee in cleave range gets one-shot. A Bounty Hunter is thematically a great fit (droid-tracking specialty) and contributes burst damage.
- Buff support: an Entertainer — Dancer or Musician — pre-buffs the group. Both the protector droids and IG-88’s own flamethrowers and rockets deal energy damage, so weight buffs heavily toward energy mitigation.
Bring two of every key support role. One healer down equals a wipe in this fight.
Strategy
The fight runs in four phases:
- Battle Droid wave — four players hold each of the four spawn doors while the medics center between them. Kicking the central Mouse Droid triggers the Battle Droid and Bomb Droid waves. Stand in the doorway to block Bomb Droid line of sight and prevent their detonation hits from connecting.
- Boss Droidekas — four CL90 gold-elite Droidekas, one per door. Burn them down individually rather than splitting fire; their shield generators reset if all four are damaged simultaneously.
- Super Battle Droid gauntlet — escalating waves of harder droids leading to the boss room. Maintain doorway positioning; do not push into the center.
- IG-88 — the boss fires rockets and a flamethrower in cleaves. Jedi tanks must keep moving and trade taunts every 2–3 seconds; DPS hold full energy mitigation and stay perpendicular to the cleave arc.
Exact mechanic timings vary by patch — verify in-game. The defining truth of the fight is that IG-88 melts a locked-on tank in roughly three seconds; everything in the strategy serves that single constraint.
Rewards
A clean clear awards every player an IG-88 Token of Heroism for the Aurilia heroic vendor. The rotating loot table includes droid-themed schematics, vanity items, and factory-themed décor. Token-farming groups rotate IG-88 into a weekly cycle with Axkva Min and the Tusken King — three lockouts, three tokens, every cycle.
