Nym’s Slicer is the pre-quest chain that keys a CL90 character into the IG-88 heroic on Lok. The frame is a slicing job: the assassin droid IG-88 has overrun Nym’s factory compound and locked the entrance behind a Retina Scanner. Nym needs a freelancer to recover an authorization code from the Tao-Ni Security Compound — a separate pirate-held POI on Lok — so a strike team can punch through the scanner and reach the droid army inside.

How to start

The chain ties into the existing Nym’s Theme Park content on Lok. Players who have run Nym’s Theme Park before are already familiar with the Feeorin pirate’s recruitment loop; the slicer chain is given by Nym himself in his stronghold and opens once a character is CL85+.

Quest steps

The chain is shorter than the Nightsister Headdress or Tusken Scholar pre-quests but combat-heavier:

  • Travel from Nym’s stronghold to the Tao-Ni Security Compound on Lok. The compound is occupied by elite mid-tier mobs that scale to the player’s CL.
  • Slice the central terminal inside the compound to recover the authorization code. Slicing here is a combat-paced minigame rather than a pure dialogue check.
  • Return the code to Nym. Nym burns the code onto a Retina Scanner override and hands the override to the player.

The Retina Scanner override is the per-character key. Each player who wants to run IG-88 must complete the slicer chain on their own character.

How it unlocks the heroic

With the Retina Scanner override in hand, a CL90 character can approach Nym’s Factory Compound, use the override at the scanner, and enter the IG-88 instance. Elite level-90 protector droids guard the approach; groups can fight them for XP or sprint past, dropping aggro at the entrance once the scanner accepts the override.

Rewards

The chain’s principal reward is the heroic key itself: access to the IG-88 instance, where the IG-88 Token of Heroism rotates through the loot table along with droid-themed schematics and factory décor. The pre-quest itself awards XP and dialogue tie-ins to the broader Feeorin pirate questline on Lok, but not standalone gear.
