Profession
Rifleman
CombatRifleman is the long-range damage profession of choice for players who want to deliver big single-target hits from as far away as possible. It is one of the elite branches off Marksman and is most effective when mastered fully — partial training leaves the profession without its signature speed and accuracy bonuses.
Role
Rifleman trades survivability for reach and burst damage. From the prone position the profession gains substantial accuracy bonuses, but positional vulnerability means most Riflemen pair the build with melee defenses or rely on positioning to stay out of close-quarters fights. The class is often described as the “glass cannon” of the ranged tree — weak armor compatibility, but devastating headshots and surprise shots when given line of sight.
Skill tree highlights
- Sniping branch — Head Shot, Surprise Shot, and Sniper Shot specials
- Concealment branch — Conceal Shot, Sneak and Shoot, Silent Assassin
- Counter-Sniping branch — Flushing Shot and Startling Shot for breaking enemy stances
- Rifle Abilities branch — Flurry Shot and Fast Sniping for rate-of-fire bonuses
Mastering Rifleman costs roughly 140 skill points including the Marksman prerequisites, and demands millions of rifle XP combined with combat XP.
Best trained at
Rifleman trainers are typically found in larger starports — Mos Eisley and Bestine on Tatooine, Theed on Naboo, Coronet on Corellia, and Narmle on Rori. Note that Restoration follows the NGE expertise system rather than the pre-NGE branched tree, so in-game class selection is simpler than the schematic above suggests; this record focuses on the profession’s role rather than its exact NGE skill mods.
