Carbineer is the mid-range Elite Marksman, specializing in compact automatic weapons. It’s the premier area-of-effect class in the ranged tree — built to control space and grind down groups of enemies before they close to melee distance.

Role

The primary role is medium-range crowd control through position attacks: slowing, snaring, and pushing opponents back. The secondary role is mid-range AoE damage. Offense and crowd control are both rated strong, but defense is minimal — once an enemy closes, a Carbineer is in trouble. Many players pair the class with a defensive or melee profession to compensate. Carbines have a narrower damage-type range than rifles, which limits the class in high-end PvE.

Skill tree highlights

  • Full Auto Area — 90-degree cone attack at the top of Assault Tactics
  • Suppression Fire — cone snare applied to all targets in front
  • Crippling Shot — snare that reduces enemy movement speed
  • Charge Shot — knocks down a target who then takes 20% more damage
  • Leg Shot — high-damage targeted attack with no accuracy penalty
  • Scatter Shot — hits two body locations simultaneously

Mastery requires 92 skill points (34 from Marksman prereqs), about 4.2 million carbine XP, and 415,000 combat XP.

Carbineer trainers are widespread — at least seven locations. Common training stops are Tyrena (Corellia), Keren (Naboo), Mos Eisley and Mos Entha (Tatooine), Narmle (Rori), and Dearic (Talus). The Rori Rebel Outpost also hosts a trainer.
