Bio-Engineer — placeholder image

Bio-Engineer is the elite hybrid crafter that sits at the intersection of two starting professions: Artisan (for the crafting workflow) and Scout (for the creature-resource harvesting toolkit). Bio-Engineers manipulate biological inputs — DNA samples drawn from creatures across the galaxy, harvested tissues and hides, organic byproducts — into genetic enhancements, custom-grown creature pets, food additives, and medical reagents.

Role

The profession’s flagship output is the engineered creature — a custom-grown pet built from DNA samples that a Creature Handler can then train and field in combat. Bio-Engineers also supply the high-end genetic and biological reagents that feed Chef recipes, Medic crafting, and certain Armorsmith experimentation requirements. The craft is unusually research-heavy: most Bio-Engineers maintain extensive notes on which creatures yield which DNA quality ranges and which combinations produce viable pets.

Skill tree highlights

  • DNA Sampling and Analysis — draw, store, and assess creature DNA
  • Genetic Engineering — combine DNA samples and experiment to produce viable pet incubation specs
  • Tissue Crafting — turn harvested tissues into food additives and medical reagents
  • Creature Production — incubation, growth-stage tending, and final pet output

Bio-Engineer requires both Artisan and Scout prerequisites because the profession relies on the Artisan crafting tools and the Scout creature-harvesting toolkit equally. Mastery cost varies by era.

Best trained at

Bio-Engineer trainers live in major starport cities — Coronet on Corellia, Theed on Naboo, Mos Eisley and Bestine on Tatooine — plus secondary trainers in Tyrena and Dearic. Bio-Engineer labs are typically clustered near the medical or crafting districts of those cities.
