Creature Handler is the Elite Scout profession built around taming and fielding pets in combat. Where a Bio-Engineer manufactures custom creatures from DNA, a Creature Handler is the one who actually tames wild beasts in the field, trains them in commands, and brings them along on hunts and through PvE encounters. Iconic SWG Creature Handler loadouts include packs of acklays, rancors, and Dathomir nightsister spider beasts.

Role

Taming is a skill-modded interaction — higher Taming and Tame Hostile skills increase the chance to bond with progressively rarer and more aggressive creatures. Once tamed, pets must be trained in commands (attack, follow, guard, stay, special action) and their loyalty maintained through feeding and use. Higher tiers raise the maximum number of pets a Creature Handler can field simultaneously, turning the player into a one-person creature squad.

Skill tree highlights

  • Taming — base skill for bonding with wild creatures
  • Tame Aggressive and Tame Hostile — required for high-tier hostile creatures
  • Pet Training — teach commands and increase pet effectiveness
  • Pet Healing — keep pets alive and bonded through combat
  • Maximum Pets — scales the number of simultaneous companions
  • Datapad Pet Slots — store more tamed creatures between sessions

Exact skill-point cost varied by era. Pet quality from Bio-Engineer suppliers further amplifies a Creature Handler’s combat output.

Best trained at

Creature Handler trainers live in cities adjacent to wildlife zones — Mos Eisley, Bestine, and Anchorhead on Tatooine; Coronet and Tyrena on Corellia; Theed on Naboo. Dathomir hosts trainers for advanced players hunting the planet’s signature predators.
