Profession
Surveyor
ScoutSurveyor is the resource specialist of the SWG economy. While every crafter starts with basic Artisan surveying, the dedicated Surveyor path goes deeper — wider survey radius, higher concentration ceilings, better hand-sampling yields, and the field-discipline patience to walk a planet hunting for the day’s premium spawns. In NGE the dedicated Surveyor profession was largely absorbed into Trader and Scout branches, but the skill set remains the same and the role is still played by specialists.
Role
Surveyors generate the supply side of crafting. Every high-quality weapon, suit of armor, droid, ship component, or food item ultimately traces back to a Surveyor finding the resource spawn and either hand-sampling rare deposits or placing harvesters on the best concentrations. The profession also feeds Bio-Engineer demand for genetic-grade creature resources, and partners closely with Architects who place the resource-harvester infrastructure.
Skill tree highlights
- Survey Range — increases the radius over which the survey tool reports concentration data
- Survey Quality — boosts the resolution of concentration reports so Surveyors can spot 90%+ deposits earlier
- Sampling — the hand-harvest action used for rare resources before placing harvesters
- Sample Quality and Yield — boosts the per-action yield and quality of hand samples
- Wilderness Sampling — combines with Scout terrain-negotiation branches to sample in hostile zones
Exact skill-point cost varied by era; in NGE the function lives inside the Trader and Scout trees rather than a standalone profession box.
Best trained at
Surveying skill is taught at Artisan trainers in every major city — Mos Eisley, Bestine, Coronet, Tyrena, Theed, Keren — and the Scout trainers who teach the Wilderness Sampling extension. The Anchorhead trainer is a common stop for Tatooine miners.
