Rancor Mount

The Rancor is the towering, carnivorous semi-quadruped infamous for nearly eating Luke Skywalker in Jabba the Hutt’s palace dungeon. In Star Wars Galaxies a tamed rancor is the apex status mount for a mastered Creature Handler.

Role in the galaxy

A player riding a rancor across Dathomir is making a statement. The mount is slower than a swoop or a speeder, but the silhouette and the species rarity put it in the same status tier as the Jetpack — an endgame “I did the work” trophy.

How to obtain

Tamed only by a high-skill Creature Handler from wild rancor spawns on Dathomir or Lok. The tame is one of the hardest in the profession: rancors have high resistance, high damage output, and a long tame timer. Many players coordinate with healers or run the tame in a hunting group.

Trivia

The rancor mount is one of several “you mastered Creature Handler” trophy tames, alongside the krayt dragon hatchling (when available on the server’s spawn ruleset) and various nightsister-affiliated beasts. The Krayt Dragon itself is not tameable — it is a raid boss, not a mount target.
