Profession
Trader (Munitions)
CraftingTrader (Munitions) is one of the four late-NGE Trader sub-branches that resulted from the post-CU profession consolidation. When the NGE collapsed the older crafting profession tree into a single Trader profession, the legacy Weaponsmith toolkit became the Munitions specialization — the same skills, the same recipes, structured beneath the Trader umbrella rather than as a standalone elite profession.
Profession history
In the pre-CU and CU eras, weapon production was the domain of the standalone Weaponsmith elite, with Merchant handling vendor logistics. The November 2005 New Game Enhancements collapsed both into a single Trader profession with four parallel specializations: Munitions (weapons), Engineering (droids and electronics), Structures (housing and harvesters), and Domestic Goods (clothing, food, jewelry). Restoration’s NGE base inherits this taxonomy. The Munitions branch is the heir to Weaponsmith — players who in the pre-CU would have mastered Weaponsmith now master Trader (Munitions) for the same gameplay role.
Role
Trader (Munitions) is the player-economy weapons supplier. The branch runs on two skill mods — Weapon Assembly and Weapon Experimentation — combined with high-quality resources. Together they determine whether a finished weapon ends up baseline or top-of-the-line. Munitions Traders work closely with combat players to spec weapons for specific damage types, ranges, and Special Attack Cost values, which makes the relationship as much consulting as production.
Skill tree highlights
The Munitions specialization mirrors the legacy Weaponsmith skill tree across four sub-branches:
- Melee Weapons I-IV — vibroblades, swords, axes, polearms, vibro knucklers, gaderiffi batons
- Firearms I-IV — pistols, carbines, rifles, heavy weapons
- Munitions I-IV — fragmentation, cryoban, glop, proton, and thermal grenades; mines; the Imperial Detonator
- Techniques I-IV — weapon components, scopes, stocks, power-handlers, barrels, and the Weapon Upgrade Kit
Mastery requires 92 skill points (29 from Artisan prerequisites), roughly 896,000 weapon crafting XP, and 31,050 general crafting XP.
