A Hermit

The Hermit — named simply “A Hermit” in the game files — is the reclusive philosopher who lives deep inside the Squill Cave on Tatooine and opens the Hero of Tatooine quest chain. He is one of the canonical solo-hero gateway NPCs in SWG.

Role in the galaxy

The Hermit only engages with players who reject Imperial alignment during the opening dialogue. Agreeing that the galaxy still needs heroes proceeds the conversation; siding with the Empire ends it entirely. Once the chain is opened, he sets the player on the four virtue arcs — Altruism, Honor, Courage, and Intellect — that culminate in the namesake Mark of the Hero ring with its 50-charge self-resurrection effect.

Where to find them

The Hermit is at /way 10 -215 inside the Squill Cave at /way 48 -98 on Tatooine. Bear left at the cave entrance and travel through the tunnels until the Hermit appears. The Squill Cave itself is in the Jundland Wastes, several speeder-minutes from Mos Eisley and well inside hostile Tusken and squill territory.
