The Lightsaber is the iconic weapon of Force-sensitive characters in Star Wars Galaxies. With the exception of the Training Lightsaber awarded by the Jedi Artifact quest and the lightsaber granted at Jedi level 30, every lightsaber in the game must be both crafted and wielded by a Jedi — no other profession can equip them.

How to acquire

Every lightsaber requires exactly one Color Crystal to activate. The Color Crystal sets the blade color and must be tuned by the Jedi who will wield it. Beyond the Color Crystal, a lightsaber can hold multiple Power Crystals and Krayt Dragon Pearls to increase damage — each adding flat damage modifiers when tuned. Resource requirements for the saber body itself vary across servers, since SWG’s resource spawn system rotates names, locations, and stats per shard.

Why it matters

The lightsaber is the most identity-defining item in the game. Its crafting and tuning system — Color Crystal for identity, Power Crystals and Krayt Pearls for power — is also one of the deepest itemization loops in SWG, giving Jedi players a permanent project to chase even at the level cap.

Combat stats

  • Damage: 250–500 energy (per-swing, pre-mitigation)
  • Attack speed: ~3.0s base
  • Effective range: 5 m (melee)
  • Damage type: energy

The damage band is unusually wide because a saber’s final per-swing damage is the sum of base blade damage plus tuned Color Crystal / Power Crystals / Krayt Dragon Pearls modifiers. A base unmodified saber sits at the lower end (~250–400 energy); a fully-tuned end-game build with stacked pearls and high-quality power crystals approaches the ~500 ceiling. Values are the canonical mid-tier NGE configuration per SWG Fandom; actual per-swing numbers vary heavily by tuning.
